What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art which central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him or her to submit. The techniques you learn in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu enables you to attack or get into a more dominant position. This gives you the upper hand in a real-life self-defense situation. 

Who is this class designed for?
This class is designed for anyone who is interested in learning the art of grappling. BJJ training will push your cardio in ways regular group classes can’t. Using dynamic exercises and movements, you will push your cardio beyond your limits. While you exercise, you will be learning valuable self defense skills.

What will you learn in this class?
At the core, you will learn how to control a resisting opponent without punching or kicking them. This is very important for self defense. If you find yourself on the ground, you will need to know how to move your body to stay safe. We will show you how the techniques are setup, so you know how to start. We will show you what parts of the body makes contact, so you avoid injuring yourself or your partner. In these classes, you will learn how to control someone standing and take them down effectively. On the ground you will learn how to control your opponent whether you are on the top or the bottom.

What is the benefit of attending this class?
Our classes are designed to push our members. You will use a lot of energy and burn a lot of calories. You will learn the art of grappling and in doing so, you will learn how to defend yourself in situations. A big focus of our classes is defense. You will be shown how to prevent someone from attaching you and how to safely move. This class is suited for anyone who is interested in pursuing grappling or wanting to learn how to defend themselves.

- Preliminary talk on how classes are run and general gym etiquette 
- Instructions on how to wrap your belt
- Instructions on how to grip, setup take-downs and submission 
- You will be partnered up with a more experienced member to assist you in the class
- A debrief at the end of class to make sure you understood the class and for feedback
